Memry & Phrasr

A novel little tool that I discovered yesterday whilst having some fun, browsing through some Web 2.0 Applications. Most of you probably know about Phrasr and its sister app, Memry, but this is just a comparison and review of the fun tools. Both are flash applications that let you input a word or a phrase. The apps both then go on to display related pictures of one sort or another. Phrasr lets you create short picture messages, getting across your point succesfully. Memry on the other hand is a game. I’m guessing you’re familiar with the rules of the Memory Game? Well, you’ll know that you have to flip over two consecutive cards and match them up. Well, it’s harder than it seems, especially on the ‘Big 6×6 Mode’. On memry, simply pick a word (or two!) and click away! The game can often take a moment to load, so be patient. Phrasr, as I explained earlier, and as the name suggests, requires you to input short phrase on which to base your picture presentation and off the software goes! It averages roughly a second a word, making it a pretty speedy job, with highly satisfying results. Kudos to Pimpampum, the creators of the applications. The applications use Flickr, so the job is done with some rather nice photos to accompany it, but it also means that the job gets done faster than it would if it were based off another image hosts servers, as they are often slower and contain some rather tacky photos.
