Firefox 2.0 is Here (Almost)

Web 2.0 isn’t a place. It’s not a thing, per se. It’s more an idea. It’s a way of life. It’s progress.
So without further adieu, Mozilla advances Firefox v2.0…tomorrow (Oct 24th).

Not a giant leap by any means, the project has passed a milestone of relative significance. It’s meant to bring the best out of the open source mantra. It’ll have everything you’re used to. And some things you’re not familiar with. You may come to love or abhor them. But the key to its success is the ‘open’ development community, one responsible for all those miraculously useful ‘extensions’ and seemingly endless supply of themes, and the ever-strengthening wall of security that bring a steady stream of frustrated (and some violated) IE users to Mozilla’s shores. They know they’ll be safe(r) in the 15% market share, whereas the remaining 80% majority continue to tread perilously through the–
OK, enough of that. Here’s the scoop. There’s definitely a lot of talk about the improvements in IE7 going around. Analysists are now saying there’ll be a resurgence behind MS. And I won’t even try disputing that, becuase I’m sure you could weasel out some truth from any side of this ongoing ‘browser bars’ argument.

I’ll only state this: The internet community is a better place today than before because of Firefox and the rest of the underdogs. It’s because of spark Blake Ross and others created that we are where we are with no sign of stopping.
