Web 2.0 testing by Ray van den Bel

bel3bel,

Greetings to all you web 2.0 enthusiasts. You probably don’t know me yet, but as from today Profy.com has asked me to write some articles for them explaining and testing the most important web 2.0 developments.

About me:

But first, let me introduce myself: People on the web know me as a web 2.0 networker with more than 5000+ direct contacts on e.g. LinkedIn, OpenBC (Xing), Tribe.net or noumerous SIGS (same interest groups). So, I am a networker and if you have bothered to have a look at my profile on one of these websites, you will find information about my professional career.
But does that tell you anything about me? Probably not, in order to know me a bit better you’ll have to look me up on social networking portals such as Myspace or Hyves. Then you get an impression about me as a person and if you are interested to contact me, you can do so using Instant Message tools such as Skype or Yahoo IM.

Upcoming tests as your author / tester:

That’s how most of us are networking in order to find out something about other people. So the information you provide in your blog or profile is also important because it will attract people with the same interest or just attract spam. You’ll get what you radiate out.

Furthermore, ask ourselves; why are we present on these sites? You probably just want to do your job, find the right people or products and do some money-making business. Or maybe you have a very special interest and hope to find other people who share your passion. Whatever your reason is, you probably want to further your contact from an online to a more personal experience. You’ll want to see, hear, understand and maybe feel the other. Web 2.0 and web 3.0 is all about this.

So what I am interested in while using a Web 2.0 portal is the functionalities and user interface in order to:

- communicate directly and effectively
- communicate on a personal level
- get a fair impression of people or products
- simplicity
- ability to really target your interest
- service
- money-making opportunities for the users
- interoperability

I will test the web 2.0 portals for you, so don’t hesitate to contact me if you want to have a portal tested. Just mail me: bel3bel@yahoo.com, and I’ll be happy to publish my test-findings on this Blog.
