Elements of a Blog

mvild,

One of the most overlooked element of a blog is that once you’ve established a frequent pattern of posts with various authors (a la Profy!) & the google spiders frequenting your site, you can then use that to link to other sites, sub-domains or any deep links that you need to get crawled. While some blog postings may not have direct links to any sites in particular, you could always format your blog (if you are using wordpress or some other template - it’s easy to alter the php, as they are cookie-cutter pieces) with some permanent links on the side.

Another mistake made by the entry-level bloggers is that they fail to realize that you can streamline your blog. It’s understood that most blogs have limited site nav, notably the “home” page and the “archive” are the only two pages most blog “newbies” incorporate, but pending the tool being used to post the blog, there are some places where you can take advantage seo-wise.

Briefly, the title of your blog should be the top 3 searched keywords, not the title of your blog. Think about if, if you know the name of a URL are you going to google it? You would more than likely just visit the url directly.

While the main objective of a blog is questionable, and per the authors and creators choice, don’t forget to take a moment for SEO purposes and you should see your efforts payoff in new traffic!
