Gather: The Place To Peruse, and Publish Too

Paul Glazowski,

gatherlogoWhile scouring Newsvine Sunday evening like I do most nights, I happened upon a burrowed link, which led to Gather, a social network unlike Myspace and its clones. Gather is a virtual café, where everything from books to food to gardening to travel is discussed.

It’s continually growing collection of articles is its strongest feature. There you can read musings from ordinary people about public and private issues. The page is laid out to invite exploration, like you would browse the aisles of a library or listen in on a roundtable conference.

There are millions of kids and adults alike that flock to the disorienting layout of Myspace. Gather is really a breath of fresh air among the masses of locker rooms of the next-generation internet. You won’t be perturbed by flashy graphics and auto-playing music. You get to talk, or listen, albeit through written word. If you’ve written up a critique of the political sphere or want to dish a thousand-word rant, you can do so without impeding forces or getting lost in throng of a million posts published seconds after your own.

Only minutes ago, I ventured into pages where a Daniel A. considers joining ROTC in one and a William M. philosophizes on Christmas and the giving of gifts. It’s a potpourri thoughts, Gather is, and it’s worth taking to a sofa with some warm brew and spending some time reading others or contributing your own pieces.

Note: Gather announced $10 Million in VC funding Friday
