ComedyCentral Finally Syndicates Their Content

Are you a fan of the ComedyCentral cable channel? With their huge fan base around the world, and 88 million viewers alone in the US, ComedyCentral finally decided to stream their videos thru their website to their fans who have broadband internet access.
And recently, they have also allowed fans to syndicate the videos on their blogs, and the most interesting part is, they do that with their own video player on their website utilising technology from MotherLoad. There was a problem with their MotherLoad video player: it did not work on Mac, but that problem has finally been resolved. This action is seen as a way for ComedyCentral to control the syndication of their content and videos from being shared on other websites like Youtube and Jibjab.com. And ComedyCentral later on revealed that they’re not planning to replace their cable channel, as the video clips available online are only around 3 minutes. Each of their comedy shows usually lasts for 30 minutes.
During a press conference in New York City, the executives revealed that their intention was to drive additional advertising revenue and extend the brand of their cable channel. Personally, I feel that their decision to syndicate their videos will help ComedyCentral to go viral and get more people to know about them. Although there’s much hype that their video player looks similar to Youtube, there’re of course some features that make it different. First of all, if you saw the video on someone else’s blog, you can either get the url to the video, or the embedding code to place it on your own blog. This will save more time for anyone who decides to share it with friends.
