YouTube Mobile Is Available!

YouTube Mobile is now, we’re hearing, readily available to the public! After months of shrouded suspicion and speculation amongst Web 2.0, Internet, Media and Mobile Technology analysts alike. And yes, it’s thanks to Verizon, as many had predicted. YouTube promised that YouTube mobile would be available within a year, but, according to the companies, the service is ready for launch as soon as next month!

How will the whole thing work? Well, users will have the power and the ability, for the first time, to be able to view selected top YouTube videos (or specific, requested ones) on Verizon phones. If that’s not enough, then of course, you can take videos on the fly, and while you’re at it, upload them on the fly, from your mobile to YouTube. Speculation suggests that within a couple of months, other providers and carriers of mobile phones will jump on board, from a wider geographical area. V Cast, Verizon’s current video service will still cost the $15 a month it always was. V Cast offers MTV, ESPN and ABC News clips for viewing on the go.

Pete Cashmore from Mashable was the first to report this breaking news. Of course it has been expected for a long time, but under present circumstances (legal issues, etc.), nobody would have predicted that the service would be launched next month! Of course, Google’s hand of influence is finally taking the company forward, moving things more quickly and applying their strengths to YouTube’s own. The $1.65 billion buy was clearly made with all this is mind.
