Yourminis Gets Major Update

Goowy Media, the company behind the popular personalized start page Yourminis, has recently implemented some major changes to the portal. We have already written about Yourminis at Profy and even interviewed Goowy Media co-founder and CEO Alex Bard. Basically, Yourminis offers you your personalized webpage that lets you view the top digg articles, your stocks, featured YouTube videos, in-portal Google search and more.

So what’s new? Well, it’s all quite amazing really! Some truly spectacular additions make the already superb service one step better. Various new minis have been added to the website, including storage on box.net to easily access your online hosted files, a really smart new, in-built mini browser for light web browsing on the go, a public pages community, and, of course some updates to existing minis. One of these smaller updates is including Profy blog in the Web 2.0 default RSS feeds – something we all thank Alex Bard for.

Public pages seem to be the greatest addition to Yourminis. Judging by the hype, the community around shared Yourminis pages won’t be small. When you publish a page, it automatically gets into the public pages section where others can view your tabs, comment on your page and vote on it as well. It is also possible to add public pages to your Yourminis tabs.

I really like Yourminis because it lets me have even more fancy widgets and useful information all within a single browser. Normally this would make a service slower, but some nifty performance improvements intended to make the portal even faster and more responsive ensure that it does not seem to grow any slower than before. Hopefully, we will be able to use this as a new great way for finding more interesting Web 2.0 content for us to write about at Profy. And honestly I do love it when a great service like this improves, for the sole reason of making life better for users.

All-in-all, this looks like a really promising move for the company. Implementing even better features on top of the already amazing service offered, will give Yourminis a chance of getting right up there, among the leaders in personalized start pages.
