PRWEB - February 5, Yesterday a new incentive based video sharing site WeWin.com announced a giant leap in membership and stored video content. Since their Beta launch in November of last year, the new site has reached the 150,000 member milestone. According to the release, WeWin is on track to compete with MySpace and YouTube.
Early successes are largely attributed to the incentive based nature of the site, as the site rewards its members with WeWin points for every video viewed, shared and other incentives. The top ten point leaders win valuable prizes like Playstation 3's or Nintendo Wii's. According to the company, this incentive model provides the site with a basis for member loyalty and fantastic growth potential.
“We are delighted by the positive response and overall support of the incentive-based model, from our members and the industry as a whole,” said Brian Carrozzi, Founder and CEO of WeWin.com. “We're ahead of schedule as it is, and our growth continues to astound me every day.”
WeWin currently has about 9,400 videos (according to my count), of which a little over 700 are sexually explicit to some extent. I do not know how many videos YouTube currently has, or how many they had after 3 months, but I do not think WeWin is in a position to compete just yet. I do like the idea of incentives for users, but this is not a new idea and the problem with these types of incentives is that most people never win anything. As in every system, there are people who spend a disproportionate amount of time trying to do whatever is necessary to get their numbers up. If the same people did anything productive with the time involved, they could easily buy any prize they could win with money left over.
Don't get me wrong, I like this site and would “goof off' there if I had the time. I just don't like sites advertising via press release, claiming to be something or a quantity that they are not. There is this one video of a stunning brunette however, oh, uh, well there are some cool videos submitted for your entertainment. So, if it is more entertainment you seek; definitely check out WeWin, after all you may just get lucky!
