Sing a Valentine at Jamglue

logoWe reviewed a unique audio mixing web community called Jamglue back in December, so I thought it might be time for an update. Jamglue is promoting a new "collective" Valentine's present that their community can participate in. "Sing You Heart Out" is a project to create the world's largest Valentine's choir. The new effort will attempt to mix the voices of as many people as possible so that loved (or hated ones) can receive a mixed-musical Valentine's message.

The Jamglue community has grown quite a bit since our December visit, and it looks like there are over 800 about 5,000 distinct people belonging to the community. The diversity of tracks now available is quite extensive, and I was glad to discover some of the really good tunes these folks have cranked out since I was there last.

The latest promotion by the community is actually kid of neat, as you listen to 25 or so people sing (in pretty good harmony) either a "lover" or "hater" Valentines mix. The "lover" version of "Oh my darling" is pretty cute, and reminds me of the old cartoon character Huckleberry Hound. The "hater" mix is not nearly as endearing and should be re-arranged I think. I like to see sites try different things, and the idea behind this little promo is sound, but somehow it just does not get much past "cute" in my book. I am not putting it down, but I would want something a little more tailored for my gal friend on a special day. Perhaps the final version will get some Jamglue member overhaul before the final cut!

I must say that the site did not quite take off like I thought it might, but "it is what it is" really. Obviously some people like the community and this new catchy mix opportunity will likely draw some more people once the recipients get the Valentine's choir arrangement. Personally, I recommend an audio-visual creation of your own design for that special someone, whether you love them or hate them. The more personal aspect tends to add gravity to the statement, don't you think? However, if you are into mixing audio, then you could create something unique at Jamglue for sure.
