Uvouch Beta - A Home For Your Video
by
on March 02, 2007,
Search, find and save video clips and links from anywhere on the Web - all in one place - with one simple click.
We had the opportunity today to Beta test another innovative, free video sharing community called Uvouch. The dynamic site reveals a Web 2.0 interface that allows users the ability to instantly add video from any of the major video sites on the Web. I got an invitation to test Uvouch directly from Parveen Panwar, the CEO of the company, and was excited at another chance to test a brand new video Beta.
Basics from Uvouch visit:
Uvouch provides a unique site where users can search, collect video and site links, create playlists of favorites and organize their video from one central Web location! Uvouch enables users direct access to over 220,000 videos and links already resident at the site, with the capability to search and upload essentially any video on the Web or stored in the user's files. The list of capabilities is very long, but can be seen via a press release of Wednesday by Uvouch.
Pros and Cons:
Uvouch has a great deal of potential, and many features that are not wholly incorporated in the other video viewing/sharing sites. Parveen is an exceedingly friendly, patient and knowledgeable man, and I think this reflects greatly on his work at Uvouch. The vision that some aspects of the site demonstrate are pure Web 2.0. The browser pop up and link buttons essentially allow users to surf to their heart's content and save the video or links to one convenient site or community. I expect Parveen will be testing for a bit more so that user input can be utilized to its fullest benefit.
The only negative thing about Uvouch at this stage of development is the limited number of people taking advantage of the opportunity to help create their own Web 2.0 video home. I had a few qualms about the navigation and UI at Uvouch, but intend to interface with the designers there to see if I can contribute some better looks. One last thing in the con department was the sign up, which was not quite as quick as many people would like it to be. However, this is a relatively small matter that can easily be fixed. Uvouch is the perfect place for video lovers and my geek friends to impact a site positively. The screen below the interview shows just some of the tools available for users at Uvouch.
Interview - Parveen Panwar - CEO Uvouch, with Phil Butler - Author at Profy.com
I have been at Uvouch for about 2 hours. I like the site very much. How did you decide to start this venture?
Actually, I like watching videos and I used to go to different websites like Youtube, Metacafe, Dailymotion etc to view videos. I thought if I could develop something that allows users to save or bookmark those videos at one place and keep track of them; it would be easier and more efficient.
That makes a lot of sense. How far along are you in the beta in regard to bug fixes etc?
Every day we receive feedback from our users and respond to improve our functionality. The Beta phase will continue until we fix all the outstanding issues pointed by our users. There are still a few unresolved issues as with any Beta.
Who constructed the site Parveen?
The site was designed by me and the programming + design has been completed by a team of programmers.
Many of our readers will ask, “How is this site different from gofish, veoh, WeWin, or a host of others?
Gofish, veoh, WeWin are all video hosting services, whereas we allow users to save videos from any video hosting website. I am sure that people like content from different websites. Uvouch is a place where we can store all that content from different websites at one place with just one click. Not only can users save videos, but also any annotation and clips online. As a user I don't have to visit different websites to save videos and then my bookmarks. With Uvouch you can do all at one place with one simple click.
That is a really cool feature, I checked it out. What has been the technical bug that has driven you crazy, if there is one?
It's not really a technical bug that's driving me crazy, it's when a video gets deleted from a hosting website due to copyright content and doesn't work at Uvouch. We have to rely on our flagging system.
Parveen, I just thought of a something I did not see, a search tool that would browse videos on Youtube or other sites so users could capture them from their space here at Uvouch, can you build such an engine?
Try to do a search for videos at Uvouch.com. You will notice on the top of the results, it says can't find, search the web. When you search the web, it will search for more relevant videos from YouTube and other websites. You can play them and click on add to favorites to import to your Uvouch account. We are also working on a search result section, where you can display results only related to particular website like Youtube. If you think we can improve on this, then please let me know and I can work out a solution.
That is pretty awesome! Parveen, I just have to ask for my information, have you considered affiliation or perhaps selling Uvouch? I just think that site and user affiliations are one of the best ways for Web 2.0 to improve.
I am ready for affiliation and haven't considered selling.
Phil: Thanks so much for visiting with us Parveen, we will be following your Beta and wish you the best!
Parveen: It was my pleasure, and I hope you will all come and contribute to our development and in establishing our community.

The founder of UVouch, Parveen Panwar has envisioned much more for his website in another interview I came across with Los Creador - http://www.loscreador.com/2007/05/29/believe-in-yourself-parveen-panwar-from-uvouchcom
I wish him best of luck with this great site.
There will be more and more video sharing sites, it feels as if a new video sharing site is born everyday, however you look at it, this is actually very healthy for the internet and it will allow for better variety instead of being stuck with a few limited choices. Sites such as Yahoo Jumpcut, Google Video, Vimeo, Veoh, Dailymotion, and Motiono are likely to see growth in the future, Motiono.com is only one of the latest additions to video sharing market on the web.
