SoWeSay - What Will They Say About You?
by
on March 28, 2007,
A new community was launched recently that allows users to rate and review anyone they know. SoWeSay is a networking tool approaching community from a different perspective and where users can obtain feedback through "SayWhat", a method for polling other users on topical issues.
According to a PRWeb press release, SoWeSay is a unique community for fostering honest, unsolicited feedback from the personal feedback and perceptions of other users. The site provides several ways of obtaining feedback and a way of sharing information about the people users meet and the issues they want to discuss.
Each profile created obtains a SoWeSay cumulative rating based on the unedited written reviews of people a user meets and submits for community review. These ratings are based on various criteria like trustworthiness, likeability, intelligence, generosity and sense of humor.
The SoWeSay site is currently in Beta and is accessible via invitation only, and is a privately held and funded company founded in 2006.
Some of the categories people are listed are new, most intelligent and most humorous. Users can also submit celebrities and other notable personalities as easily as an X-girlfriend and the main page contains video explaining the process to use ISay, SayMore and SayWhat?
True to the press release, I could only submit my email and await an invitation to use the system. This is another approach to social networking replete with Google ads already in place. The profiles I saw were very basic and essentially expressed some very basic data on the individuals being rated, while the comments appeared to express personal opinion about character traits usually associated with personal contact.
I am not sure how one determines how generous a person is online, unless a person sends money via PayPal, but then this could be established via mutual gratification via Internet contact I suppose. Well, if you have people you want to write about and submit to the SoWeSay or if you are looking for people with high ratings (or low) from other people, then SoWeSay just may be the Web 2.0 community for you!

it’s a very good idea (at last!). But a bit dangerous. Has allways, a bad person, can bring down the “fame and fortune” of a person in a site like this one.
I hope that the authors control that very soon, not after the site grow.
You made a good point Jonix,
I expect there will be a load of flaming going on it the developers don’t get on top of it. The site is not one of those you would expect to take over the Web any way, but the point is well take.
Thanks,
Phil
