Mojiti 2.0 - Annotate Video on the Fly

Phil Butler,

We just got a media preview from Mojiti, a beta I tested back in January. We liked Mojiti back then because it looked to be the premier video annotation innovation of the New Year.  It looks like they have not let us down.

Mojiti will unwrap their latest version next week and our preview really shows even more promise than the original. This is especially true given the number of startups we are seeing pass into oblivion lately. It is fun to test sites that are easy to say good things about, and people are going to love this advanced version of Mojiti.

Next week's launch of their revamped version will reveal some additions and changes that will add significantly to user enjoyment, ease of use and creativity. Some of the new features at Mojiti include:

  • Adding multimedia annotations (video and audio even - your voice)
  • Stream dynamic info on top of your video using an RSS Feed (like a stock ticker)
  • Annotate videos while on other websites like Youtube using a bookmarklet (awesome)
  • Enhanced site design and annotation UI (this new one is really slick)

The addition of multimedia annotations at the preview site is pretty amazing and allows 10 times the flexibility of the previous version. Mojiti video spots can now feature annotations of other video, images, flash, music and your own voiceover or insertion.  Freehand annotations can also be added directly to the screen and a very cool RSS function lets users add scrolling feed across their video.

The new version of Mojiti will be out on April 5. You might also check out the blog at Mojiti for updated news and additions. I like developers who are proactive and tend to the little things as well as the big buttons. If Mojiti could integrate a community for collaborative sharing onto their site, this would be one of the most popular sites in video. As it is, Mojiti is a technically advanced and fun utility for editing and annotating video.

Because this version is a preview I am not able to embed the video, so I took this screen from one of the funniest parts.
