eSnips -Web 2.0 Expo’s Little Star
April 14, 2007 |
The upcoming Web 2.0 Expo, April 15 -18 2007 promises some fascinating news for all us 2.0 junkies. One of the startups there caught my eye this morning, so I thought I should tell you about eSnips.
eSnips is an online content sharing community where users have great flexibility of choice over the types and quantity of data they want to aggregate. The free 5 GB of space of storage space is generous and users also control who they share their content with. The variety of content sharing is perhaps eSnips' best asset and users are allowed to store text, photos, music, video, flash and other media types.
Users create folders filled with their selections and then decide who is allowed to view their information. eSnips is different because almost any kind of data can be stored and shared there. Anything from home movies to this article can be compiled at eSnips and shared with no one, some people or the entire Web.
This site is actually very flexible and users can create folders to store subject data, select favorites, create playlists of digital media and of course maintain a personal profile. The community aspect is varied and useful as well and some of the current communities include:
Karaoke – Where unashamed users can share their “Idol” incarnations
DJ's - A place for wannabe DJ's exhibit remixes
Photography – Photographers playground (Some actually striking stuff as I visit)
Painting – Art exhibition, currently with many wonderful examples
Video – High quality collection of user demonstrated video offerings
Spiritual - From George Michael to Crossing Jordan, everything spiritual
Poetry – Original poetic creations
Humor – Goofy video to lunatic photography exhibitions
Paranormal – UFO files and other strange offerings
Marketplace – A place to buy and sell “everything”
I have been wondering when someone would attempt to break ground on the perfect website. With some widgets and tools eSnips could be the most functional and useful sharing community we have seen. I know, pretty big praise for a beta site, but that is the point here. This site is still in beta and looks and functions better than some that have been out there a while.
We first reported on eSnips back when they raised funding in 2006. Obviously they spent the money well and now they are at the Web 2.0 Expo. eSnips has all the Web 2.0 hardware from blog to tool bar button. The site is a refined, excellent variant of a Web 2.0 community, so go tell them what's next!

Common uses of graphic design include identity (logos and branding), web sites, publications (magazines, newspapers, and books), advertisements and product packaging. For example, a product package might include a logo or other artwork, organized text and pure design elements such as shapes and color which unify the piece. Composition is one of the most important features of graphic design, especially when using pre-existing materials or diverse elements.Credit Card Debt Relief Program
