Kyte Takes Off On Schedule

Phil Butler,

Kyte.tv went live Monday the 23rd as promised by Daniel Graf the founder. Kyte is a Splashcast type startup that allows users to broadcast content, display photos, music and other favorite media on their sites. Channels on Kyte.tv can be enabled with live chat and are viewable via a scroll menu below the player. Kyte is the most feature laden service of its type by far.

This broadcast station for the people of Web 2.0 can be embedded in personal spaces, pages or blogs and the user has ultimate control over the whole spectrum of privacy controls. Kyte.tv is fully customizable with the inclusion of background images, logos and added text. Every channel created also gets its own unique URL and Kyte is easily integrated with mobile technology so that channels can be experienced or broadcast via preferred mobile device.

I like the being able to see who is viewing your channels on MySpace or Facebook, and the ability to drag songs over photos and video is something I have long waited for. These features are awesome and totally unique from other players out there. The only problem facing Kyte.tv is the licensing issue for music. The service does not currently allow for uploading music but does supply of ten songs so far that are licensed or buying music from iTunes.

A great deal has been said of "all in one" applications and some writers do not seem to like them. I am actually a fan of some all inclusive innovations and the development of these cool startups really entails delineating one from the other. Without reinventing the wheel, how are these services to appeal to users? Kyte.tv is a great example of how much can be offered to people on Web 2.0 even if the video niche is becoming crowded. This is a great service, and paying a few bucks for your favorite tunes may actually be the right thing to do. Kyte.tv will put some heavy pressure on other sites and only good can come from fair competition for fans of Web TV in all its incarnations.
