Pixilive.com is another simple way to upload images and video for hosting or sharing to your favorite spaces. This free service allows users to upload, copy and paste links or code literally in seconds. The most noticeable thing about Pixilive is the lack of any registration from. The simplicity and function of this little site are readily apparent and anyone can create a link or code as fast as they can choose their media.

I have run across several of these sites that have seemed to follow the trend towards “simple is better.” Sure enough, Pixilive is about as simple as it gets and the service supports images up to 5 MB and video up to 10 MB. No registration, unlimited bandwidth and an unlimited hosting duration round out a site that really cannot be faulted in its utility. Just how many such sites we need is another question but as long as these little boats can float they will be a useful utility for users.

The coolest feature of Pixilive for me is the snappy slideshow tool that allows for creating a rabbit fast show in minutes. The UI for this is also simple and easy to use and anyone can create a decent show with various themes, styles, skins and/or various sizes very quickly. Pixilive is not an advanced service but it is one of the most useful ones I have tested. Pixilive supports jpeg, jpg, png, gif, bmp, tif and tiff images as well as video in avi, mpg, wmv, mov, mpeg and mp4 formats.

It is pretty obvious that Pixilive is designed to collect lots of video, and images and that their service hopes for bunches of links to the site via the codes embedded. The only real problem I found with the site is that a considerable amount of adult content now resides in plain view for anyone to see. In fact, if the ratio of adult content to “G” rated stuff continues Pixilive will be something of a porn site in a few months. There is no content waiver or warning that I could find and this is pretty Web 2.0 unacceptable in my book.

Pixislide (the slideshow aspect mentioned) is a really nice bonus to an otherwise useful little site. No registration, upload, copy and paste and you are done! That is about as fast as anyone could ask for and time is money according to the old paradigm. The content needs to be segregated and monitored before someone bigger than me complains about it. A little more tasteful advertising and a widget or two would really enhance this site a lot, so deal with the content guys and you have a winner.
