Go BIG Startup Network Opens ‘Projects’

Paul Glazowski,

Go BIG, a network of startup companies, in which expert entrepreneurs and advisors offer tips to budding businesses and angel investors and venture capitalists, whether solo or with the backing of whole firms, get easily connected to promising operations, is having an official launch of a new feature called Projects, today.

Go BIG Projects is a new venue created for the creators (an apology for the redundancy) of startups to acquire the brainpower they need to turn ideas into products and to attain a staff that will help grow their ventures.

A classified listing of sorts, Projects connects over 50,000 Go BIG members together to help startups quickly fill positions from a pool of programmers, marketers, and consultants, many of whom (according to Go BIG), “are willing to work for equity or stock options in exchange for their services.”

The concept of Projects is simple enough. Go BIG member startups are allowed to post requests for skilled workers freely (Think Craigslist, but far more concentrated, very specialized, and more “connected”.), after which word a position’s (or several) availability filters out to the community at Go BIG. Those Go BIG members that only wish to receive select alerts about job openings from the variety of categories in the Projects section of the website may do so; the option of no alerts is also available.

Four categories are available at the start: Business Planning, Programming, Marketing & Sales, and Creative Services. The amorphousness of the fields is likely purposely done to allow the Go BIG community to hone the page as it bests suits everyone’s needs, though some general descriptions for the first four sections are present as light guides to those listing jobs:

Business Planning – Business plans, marketing plans, and competitive analysis;

Programming – Website development, application programming, and database design;

Marketing & Sales – Search engine optimization, traditional marketing, public relations, and business development;

Creative Services – Brochures, print ads, banner ads, logos and stationery.

The inclusion of Projects has been long awaited (Go BIG’s launch occurred more than one year ago in January of 2006) and will clearly work well in tandem with the network’s other components. Among the tens of thousands of startups currently listed on Go BIG, it’s only inevitable that slots will open which managers and business owners will want filled. The addition of the Projects feature will only helps close those voids more quickly.
