Profy Now Offers Free Subscriptions to IT Magazines

on August 24, 2007,
Following yesterday's post by Michael Garrett in which he called paid online subscriptions "a dying business model", I would like to continue with today's announcement of a new Profy partnership. We have come to expect that all the information available online should be free and it usually is (when was the last time you paid for reading your news online?). TradePub follows the same philosophy in the offline publications world. Jointly with leading publishers TradePub provides free subscriptions to various industry professionals working in industries ranging from agriculture to insurance. Profy has recently become a TradePub partner and now we are happy to offer our readers a wide range of information technology publications absolutely for free via this special site. I am absolutely sure you will find something useful for your work there.
On the website you will be able to browse through lots of magazine titles (including such prominent ones as InformationWeek or PC Magazine). All the publications can be browsed by names or by categories. I think, I can name Internet, Information Technology, and Multimedia (it is only a tiny part of the relevant categories available) to demonstrate you there are plenty of publications that you personally will be particularly interested to read.
The best part? All the publications are actually free provided that you meet certain professional and demographic criteria specified by publishers (which I find pretty logical - it is obvious that they need to make money off advertising in the magazines to be able to send you those colorful pages weekly or monthly). In addition to paper magazines here you may also subscribe to electronic versions of magazines, to newsletters, ebooks, and podcasts. If you are willing to be notified when new titles are added to the Information Technology category use this RSS feed to be among the first to get those new publications. But first of all I invite you to visit the new website and browse the multiple categories to see what publications can help boost your own productivity and expertise. After all, you are not surprised that information online is free - so why are you still paying for your magazines?
If you enjoyed this post, make sure you subscribe to profy RSS feed!
