ItsMy Tries To Take Social Networks Mobile

ItsMy is a site that tries to bring social network and online content together on your mobile phone or PDA. ItsMy has the company motto of “Send anything, get everything”, and so far the users seem to be taking that to heart. So far the most use seems to be on the “flirt” pages, but the site has much more to offer than just finding someone to date.
My favorite part of ItsMy is definitely the mobile game downloads. I'm always looking for something to do when I'm waiting or killing time, and mobile phone games absolutely fit the bill. The fact the games have a social aspect only makes it better. What's more fun than playing a game against someone else in real time while you wait for the dentist, the doctor or a plane?
ItsMy also offers other user generated content like photos, videos, audio, wallpapers and more. I had to spend a lot of time slogging through some fairly sub-par content to find a few gems worth adding to my favorites. Adding things to your “favorites” is how you build a cell phone home page on ItsMy. Once you understand how it works it is fairly simple, but it had a significant frustration level for me at first.
ItsMy is fairly easy to sign up for. All you have to do is send an MMS message (a photo message) from your phone or PDA to the ItsMy site. Take any random photo, then send it to ItsMy. It's that easy. In return you get a code in a reply message which gives you access to all of the free content on ItsMy.
It'sMy uses targeted ads to finance its free content. In exchange for the ad placements, users get to download a variety of content and connect with other users interested in similar content. The ads are fairly well integrated into the mobile surfing. I didn't find them overly intrusive to my experience. The overall feeling of the content is “busy”, though it isn't because of the ads that it feels that way.
ItsMy is definitely targeted to a younger demographic. If you are in the 12 - 25 set, you will probably love it. Just make sure your cell phone or PDA plan covers video, photo and sound messaging - if it doesn't and you use ItsMy you could be looking at some seriously steep charges. If you are in the older crowd, you probably want to keep searching for a mobile social content network that is more suited to your needs and taste.
