Gmail Remembers the Milk

We first reviewed Remember The Milk here at Profy almost exactly a year ago, and thought we couldn't love it more then. How little we knew about the possibilities, however, because this week, RTM released version 1.0 of possibly the most useful item you'll ever download: a
Firefox plug-in that fully integrates RTM with your Gmail account. as well as your Google Calendar.
Sure, Remember The Milk was always able to be pulled into Google Calendar, but with the new plug-in, it's like RTM is a part of Google, which is what Paul originally suggested all along. All you have to do is install the plug-in and it pops up a sidebar alongside your Gmail account. You can change your Gmail settings to automatically create tasks when you star an email or use a specific label, link tasks directly to contacts using specific keywords like “Call.”
I'm still wondering why Google hasn't picked up Remember The Milk by now. This is the integration that Google has been missing in terms of getting more organized and keeping Calendar and Mail linked in together in a seamless fashion, and it's made me go back to using RTM when I had let my organization attempts fall by the wayside. Better yet, it's just in time for all of us who have added “get more organized” to our New Year's resolutions, and is so fully integrated that you won't even notice it's there. Even better, if you are like me, you probably have your mail and calendar pages open in tabs all the time anyway, meaning you can organize your to-do list with no extra effort once you've installed the plug-in.
If I had one wish, it would be for RTM to modify the plug-in for use with Camino or Safari, the two browsers I use for work email and schedules (Firefox is usually my personal email and blog reading). Who knows? Maybe this time next year we'll have another article with more exciting news from RTM. And a Camino plug-in.
