Competition for the European Startups at the Plugg Conference Announced

I am a firm believer in the idea of competition. I think that without competition the market leaders will freeze and never grow further. This is true for all the industries and all the fields. That is why today I am happy to announce that Profy is a media partner of the new European web conference - Plugg. Plugg is intended to show the European perspective on Web 2.0. The one day event will take place in Brussels on March 19.
The conference is organized in Belgium by a good friend of mine Robin Wauters who used to edit Blognation Belgium. I had a real pleasure of meeting Robin in Paris at Le Web 3 in December.
Robin started working on the conference early last year - at least this was when I first heard from him about his plan to start a web conference in Belgium to provide a place for European startups and established web companies to talk and demonstrate their products. Now that the Plugg conference is only a couple of month ahead I think it is time to congratulate Robin on everything he has already done to make it possible.
An important part of the conference will be a competition for European startups that Plugg announced late last week - the Plugg Start-Ups Rally. The startups have about a month to submit their profiles to participate in the conference - the registration will be completed on February 8th. The profiles that startups submit online will be reviewed by a number of web professionals that will choose only 20 startups to participate in the competition. By the way, I really like the approach of only choosing such a limited number of startups. In fact, when the number is higher, the stage often becomes crowded and the startups get less space and attention - both from judges, general public and venture capitalists (and they are of the highest importance to them as we all know). Moreover, there is no fee for the startups to participate in the Plugg Rally - the startups will only need to pay registration fee for their representatives (in fact, a reduced fee).
So if you have a European startup and want to showcase it to the European audience, I think Plugg is a good place because from the very beginning Robyn deals with the conference in a very professional way and the event in my opinion has good chances of becoming an important European web event.
And if you are thinking about participating in Plugg yourself, stay tuned as we will soon offer discounted tickets to the Plugg on the Profy blog.
