Zude Secures $5.3 Million In Series B
January 17, 2008 |
Fifth Generation Systems announced today that the have just completed a series B financing round in the amount of $5.3 million. 5G is best know for creating the social computing platform Zude , which I covered both here and on ReadWriteWeb back in September of 2007. Back then I called Zude "An end all creativity site" and the creativity continues.
Investors in this round included: Irwin Lieber and Barry Rubenstein of Wheatley Partners, Persistency Capital and Gund Investments, with additional funding provided by Bergstein LLC: According to the news 5G will use this funding to finance accelerated product development and to expand their user base.
Additional news form 5G announced the appointment of Dan Bricklin, co-creator of VisiCalc, and Barry Rubenstein to the board of directors of 5G. Jim McNeil, CEO of 5G also announced the appointment of Brian Young – a technology entrepreneur as senior vice president of business development. McNeil also had this to say about today's announcements: "These new additions to the board will help keep 5g at the forefront of business and technological innovation."
Zude is one of my favorite innovations as I have said before. 5G‘s unique and feature filled development is adding function at a rather amazing rate. I originally created a couple of spaces there that are actually quite striking and I must say Zude is the most creativity based social site on the Web.
Zude says they connect users in ways never before possible and what‘s more they attempt to do just that The development still has a long way to go to reach its full potential, but even now they are what I would call "the drag-and-drop kings of network creativity." With this funding I think we can expect some fantastic innovation in the coming year from Zude.
