Playyoo - Flash Gaming Gone Mobile
by
on January 25, 2008,
Playyoo just launched a public beta mobile social networking platform that allows game developers to interface with users. Playyoo's Game Streams are an easy way to discover and download games by utilizing intelligent filtering to ensure that only relevant games from within their networks. The big draw for this service is that developers can create their own Adobe Flash Lite games and then distribute them to the community. This news is accompanied by the announcement that Playyoo is sponsoring a $25,000 Adobe Flash development contest that will run until February 28.
Joining Developers With Users
Since previewing their site in October of 2007, Playyoo has made friends of game developer netwirks. Chris Pelly, CEO of Playyoo said: "the overwhelming response to Playyoo comes out of a desire to make games easy to find, free to download, play and to have fun creating them." Playyoo has addressed several issues that have plagued the mobile gaming community. Intelligent filtering for one, ensures that game selections are compatible with the user's handset, so incompatibility is now more assured. However, it is game development exposure and access that makes this service shine. Playyoo's game creator allows users to create their own games too, and by uploading images and modifying game elements users now have more flexibility than with any other service.
Make A Game and Money
As or the contest, Playyoo members will vote on and choose the best game development from the entries and the winner will receive one of the $25,000 in prizes. Playyoo is also sponsoring a regional Flash Lite contest for an additional $15,000 in prizes. If you are into making cool Flash games, this sound like a lot of fun. I am not sure where mobile gaming resides on the Web 2.0 tree but in my book the Web going full mobile is Web 3.0. People interested in entering the contest can follow this link to Flash Lite bliss, and as for the rest of us, we can simply download these cool games from Playyoo as we wait for the plan to take off.
Playyoo is a very well done site and the service looks to be top notch. There are currently over 200 game selections available on the site, with many more to come obviously. I am not into the mobile arena as much as I should be I expect, but this service seems to cover a lot of bases that have yet to be addressed. Flash Lite games are simple and easy to play and mobile users will enjoy not wasting time either downloading incompatible games or looking for hours trying to find the ones they want. I like things simple and Playyoo has taken some of the pain out of going mobile with games.
