One of the issues surrounding Google Docs is getting them to translate into the real world and work offline as well as they do online. Google has released a new helper application to make it easier to synchronize your online Google Docs with your offline life. They are calling it Google Gears. |

Chumby Industries Nabs $12.5 Million in Funding

Today the makers of the recently launched (yet oddly-named) Chumby internet-connected device have acquired $12.5 million in Series B funding, primarily from JK&B Capital, a new investor for the company. Chumby's other existing venture investors, including Avalon Ventures, Masthead Venture and O’Reilly AlphaTech Ventures, were also involved in the financing, which will be used to “accelerate growth” of the San Diego-based company, as well as to expand the Chumby Network onto other screen-based web devices. |

We first covered fledgling social network and user generated content site Cre8Buzz a few months ago while they were in private beta. Since they started out way back then, they have altered their focus to meet the demands of their target demographic. At first only a social network, they now want to become a destination for user generated content as well. |

Taking a new tack in the continuing war on music listeners, Warner wants to break from the current thug tactics of the RIAA and go with a fee schedule instead. This fee schedule would operate very much like a consumption tax on music, being added to your internet bill each month. What Warner isn’t taking into account is whether that is something music lovers want. |

There are tons of complex applications out there right now as companies try to create the first, best monetized model for online music, like Grooveshark .
