@ Cindy: thanks for almost liking us...lol. i'm glad someone else is developing some software for this developing segment. i was beginning to think we were completely out to lunch. just an fyi: you can turn off reader comments with a click (Settings) if you want to live blog undisturbed. or toggle them back on and off as you need to. as for a business plan, i wrote it on a napkin somewhere...where did i put that thing? kidding. because the habit of live blogging the way we have proposed it (and others will follow with better/worse/similar software) is in its infancy, we're more focused on working with our users to figure out what works, what doesn't and what they want next. i think there are some pretty standard ways to make a living if we get that part right over time. btw, the profootballtalk.com guys bring me to tears laughing during the game sometimes.
please feel free to email me directly if you have any questions: keithm@coveritlive.com.

[...] ShiftEdit has been getting some great press this weekend thanks to the writers at Ajaxian and Profy (thanks! :)). Profy’s review, in particular, brought up a lot of great points I’ll address in future blog posts (it’s 1am, I’m tired ;)) but one thing they both mentioned, was the lack of an OpenID login on ShiftEdit.
Thanks for the review, Cyndy! ShiftEdit was built from the ground up to making live blogging as fast and easy as possible. We've done the Wordpress edit/save/edit/save/edit/save many times ;) We went back to basics with the interface, trying to create something where you can quickly throw your points online, and refine them as you go (it's not really obvious yet, but there's WYSIWYG editing on your entries as well).

We've also been the end-users watching a keynote liveblog going F5/F5/F5/F5 and complaining that the entries are newest-to-oldest, or oldest-to-newest. So we tried to solve that too.

Over the next month, there will be lots of changes to ShiftEdit. We are moving onto a grid server architecture to scale our server-load on-demand, releasing a full-skinnable embedding feature (as you already saw ;)), and releasing a white label level of service.

We're very excited to be in the space, and I hope you see a lot more of us in the months to come. In the time-being, please keep the comments coming. We'll have OpenID login ready for you this week ;)

Cheers,
Jonathan

OMG, thank you for pointing that out! I had originally intended to talk about Cover It Live when reviewing Shift Edit and then completely forgot about it when I actually wrote this. I will update it today to explain.
