SoSauce Cooks Up the Ultimate Travel Journal

Triston McIntyre,

SoSauceCooks Up the Ultimate Travel JournalAnd to call it a journal is truly unfair, but for lack of a better term, I'll settle for really fantastic super travel journal.  Now that your interest is no doubt aroused to some degree or another, here's exactly what SoSauce is: SoSauce is a new platform on which you can record everything that goes down on your vacations, from the route you took to your photos and journals, all on one very clean, appealing platform. I could be wrong, but later versions might even allow you to upload samples of soil from the ground you walk upon for others to smell and taste, but I can't confirm that.

SoSauce brings a lot to the table.  The platform is open to anyone, and has three big tools users can take advantage of.  First, SoSauce offers a photo tool for uploading and sharing photos with your friends, the SoSauce community, or just for your own enjoyment, if you're so inclined.  Once you've uploaded photos, you can view them in a slide show, tag them, and organize them into albums (pretty standard fare).  Once you've uploaded your photos, users in the community can rate them; if the pics are really great, they might get indexed as "saucy" on the photo mainpage, or even be picked by the editor to display in a special section.  The whole application is very fluid and attractive, and is one of the most aesthetically appealing photo apps I've used.SoSauce Cooks Up the Ultimate Travel Journal

The second application SoSauce has is a journal logger, and journal loggers are just about what they sound like.  However, coupling a simple yet functional journal application with the aesthetics and creative design of SoSauce yields impressive, appealing results.  The journaling section shares most of the attributes of the photo section.

The SoSauce mainpage is what will really draw you in.  After installing a four and a half megabyte webplayer plugin, my Camino browser was rendering what appeared to be a post board, complete with pins holding the photos, journals, travel and updates sections in place.  You can even move the different sections around the board to create your own custom homepage.

I purposefully left the best part for last. The real purpose behind the site (in my estimation) is to combine the photo section functionality with that of the journal section with a nifty trip tracker map tool to create the ideal travel log. With the travel application, you can document on a map the route you took on your trip, and the stops you made.  For each location, you can attach specific albums, photos, or journals, which will appear as you bring up each location.  What's even more exciting is that you don't have to be the only one who contributes content to your travel log; your friends can contribute their own content, be they journal entries or photos, to your group trip log.

SoSauce Cooks Up the Ultimate Travel JournalI hesitate to be so vocally excited about any application or platform, but after consideration, I realize my hesitation is really only a thing of principle as a tech writer.  SoSauce is a great travel logging tool, and I would highly recommend it for anyone who is looking for an inclusive and feature-rich platform for documenting and sharing every aspect of your vacation or travel. I promise to update you if a Soil.app plugin hits the interwaves.
