Userplane Adds Mediaplayer to Fleet of Publishing Apps

For those looking for an alternative to the rather lengthy list of video players already available to web publishers, Userplane is certain its new and ingeniusly named Mediaplayer will appeal to those looking to bring video content to their respective websites. If you are a fan of existing Userplane applications, then Mediaplayer could certainly be right up your alley.
Userplane is a direct subsidiary of the AOL group, and has been slowly building a library of publishing applications since 2001. Currently Userplane has a gaggle of applications, including Webchat 2, Webmessenger 2, Webrecorder, Desktop, Feeds, and now Mediaplayer. Though the minds behind Userplane apparently don't have a penchant for really eye-catching application names, the variety of applications seems to make up for it.
Mediaplayer allows website users and publishers to fluidly upload and display video content (though I must say, without that functionality, I'm not quite sure what would classify it as a video media player). Through Mediaplayer, users can also share video content by email and bookmarking. Users will be able to add content on Mediaplayer to their social networking profiles, and even customize their player skins. Future versions will have chat functionality included in the player so users viewing content can converse while watching the same content, but not yet… not yet.
Userplane has over 200,000 publishers on board with its applications. Websites OurCuteBabies and AnimalAttraction have already adopted the platform, and many others should soon be on board.
Of course, many publishers are undoubtedly wondering what differentiates Mediaplayer from all the rest. Brian Blank, public relations representative for Userplane, said, "With tons of white label solutions out there, Userplane adds their expertise, experience and client support in providing top publishing tools." That does sound vaguely reminiscent of NBC's hit comedy The Office, where customer support and expertise are the only threads keeping small paper company Dunder Mifflin afloat in an ocean with bigger fish like Staples, but I digress.
Nonetheless, customer support is important, and as Userplane is owned by the good folks at AOL, you can probably bet on getting the same great quality and support that has always accompanied the brand image of America Online. If you, as a developer, are looking for a media platform with a ready support staff awaiting your beck and call, Userplane's Mediaplayer might be right up your alley.
