Apple Reportedly Listens To the Critics – Launching $800 Laptop

Laptop by Apple for $800Duncan Riley has reported an interesting piece of information from the source he describes as “reliable, would have access to such information, and who has been accurate in the past”. The report is about new price lists Apple retailers received from the company where there is a new position – a laptop priced at $800.

According to Duncan’s source, Apple laptops range includes 4 new positions in addition to the current 8 laptops (3 Macbooks, 3 Macbook Pros and 2 Macbook Airs). Prices for the laptops range from $800 to $3,100 in the price sheet. And while there are no technical specifications, the mere fact that we see a laptop priced under $1K is very interesting on its own.

Only last week when we saw Apple losing $20 billion in valuation because of reports from two analytics, we suggested that the market decided people would buy less of Apple laptops because they are so up-market. And during economic meltdowns consumers are supposed to choose essentials over luxury, brand or style.

This was when many bloggers suggested Apple should introduce a new, less expensive, laptop that will be truly affordable and will do the job of helping Apple target an additional market segment. So if today’s report on Inquisitr is actually true, it must mean Apple could increase its market share instead of losing it even during a downturn.
