Trick or Tweet Proves Twitter Users Are Rarely Willing to Pay yet Are Eager to Play

It is quite obvious that we could not do without a special meme on Twitter for Halloween and it is there, of course – Chris Brogan and Bryan Eisenberg came up with the idea of Trick or Treat Twitter style, properly named Trick or Tweet here.
The idea is to do something good no matter what the choice eventually is – be it connecting people or raising money for charities. So you start by sending the Trick or Tweet message to some of your followers and wait for the reply. If the reply is “tweet”, you are supposed to suggest a couple of interesting people to follow (the only condition is that they should have less than 1,000 followers) while if it is “trick”, you will send the person to the rules of the game where they will be able to donate some money to charities using ChipIn. You will find the full rules here and the hashtag for the game is #TrickorTweet.
It seems like the game is already gaining traction with the Twitter community that is always willing to celebrate a holiday in some very peculiar social media fashion. The only disadvantage that I see is that unfortunately for charities social media people are way too eager to engage in the meme and recommend people (well, we do enjoy recommending – no matter what actually) but they seem to be much less willing to go the other way and actually donate anything with the ChipIn widget only showing three donations as of this writing for a total amount of $40 so probably there will be a very moderate number of donations compared to the load on Twitter servers created by users following new recommended people in huge volumes today thanks to this game.
And while people still have to learn what the new Trick or Tweet game is, they already know how to wish happy Halloween to each other with “BOO” being one of the hottest topics gaining dozens of new mentions every minute:

Options, dear Watson. Options. It's the same as being able to do Option+Tab on my mac to cycle through applications or hit F11 to use Expose to find what I want. Both pretty much do the same thing, but I get to choose. That's the way I look at it.
