Cooking and Recipes Sites Thanking Google for Thanksgiving Day Help

Turkey getting ready for Thanksgiving DayIt looks like web users know one place where they will be sure to find just about everything they may need – and this place is Google. It is always fascinating for me to watch Google Trends offering new subjects people are interested in every day. What’s more, I often feel that if you are lost in time and have no idea what season it is, Google will always help you find that out – just look at the Google Trends.

I myself have a bad habit of checking Google Trends at least a couple of times per day at to me it is something of a barometer to see what the people online are mostly concerned about. And today – quite obviously – everything people think about is thanksgiving. So I wanted to share some of my observations with people not obsessed with Google Trends for you to get a feeling that a holiday is everywhere and no one really cares about anything else. So what are people mostly interested in today?

First of all, people are obviously interested in all the things they can do to make this Thanksgiving Day bright and happy for their loved ones – hence searching for “happy thanksgiving”, “funny thanksgiving pictures”, thanksgiving jokes, thanksgiving wishes, thanksgiving greetings – and dozens of other similar queries. I just hope that all the kind wishes everyone must have already found will reach the addressees on time.

The most surprising thing is that people are heavily involved in searching for “happy thanksgiving myspace comments”. Of course you are often expected to post some kind words along with a beautiful picture on a wall of your friend to wish a happy holiday but I have never realized that there were some special traditions for thanksgiving comments on MySpace and I can hardly understand why people really need some special wishes for their social networking friends.

But the most amazing thing to me is how many people are thinking about what they will eat during the Thanksgiving feast and how they will cook that delicious food. The number of words “turkey” in Google Trends is quite amazing: as of now 34 out of 100 most popular search queries contain the word “turkey” with people looking for recipes, instructions on how to cook deep fried turkey and how to prepare gravy for the traditional turkey as well as instructions on baking or stuffing turkey. To me it looks like various cooking and recipes site will now make the revenue worth a whole year of hard work – if they were good enough in composing dozens of recipes for the Thanksgiving Day.

But unfortunately the number of people searching for various Black Friday deals is not impressive at all which makes me think that even the hugest sales of all times may not be enough to make consumers spend money unless they badly need a product and planned to buy it anyway. Definitely it does not look like we’ll see many compulsive purchases this year on Black Friday. But while this remains to be seen, I wish everyone reading this a great celebration tonight and hope you will enjoy your turkey – be it deep fried or baked. Happy Thanksgiving!
