Hush Project Offering Everyone to Help Change the World in the New Year

Now that the year 2009 is mere hours ahead I wanted to draw your attention to a new project launched yesterday trying to really make a difference. The name is The Hush Project and the idea is “to get web workers on board and help change the lives of people that change lives, but do not get the credit they deserve”.
So basically it is a charitable project that is intended to help everyone notice people trying to change this world without drawing attention from their efforts to those behind the sites promoting these efforts. The team offers products like bags, T-shirts, wall clocks or mouse pads (pretty usual selection) featuring Hush Project designs in the dedicated CafePress shop (with worldwide shipment available). Additional products are supposed to appear soon as The Hush Project invites creators of eBooks, templates for blogs and websites, web or desktop applications to contribute their products to be sold here to generate extra revenue to help achieve the goals of the project. Also one-time and monthly donations are welcome here.
The money collected in this manner will be used to help someone in need - and this person in need will be nominated by visitors as well. The nominated people are supposed to fit the description of an “unsung hero” and change other people’s lives in some manner. Everyone is free to nominate someone and the team behind the site will choose one person every month to send the money to help to do the good things in the future as well.
The project is promised to operate based on total transparency in everything related to both the donations and sales. The team will publish all the information on a monthly basis to make sure everyone understands how much money is collected and where it goes.
The best part is that the Hush Project offers almost everyone some option to get involved. If you write eBooks or sell web templates, you may want to donate some work to be sold here for the good cause. The donations is an obvious option accessible to everyone with a PayPal account. If you are a blogger, you are invited to mention the Hush Project on your blog or place a special button linking to it as well. And of course everyone is invited to follow updates from the project on Twitter. So if you feel like doing something useful in the New Year, the Hush Project offers you a few options. And I now know what to do when I am deeply grateful for the efforts of some people around me who I feel deserve both recognition and some material rewards as well - I will be sure to nominate them for the Hush Project monthly awards.
