Ray’s Web 2.0 Business Minitests: Doostang.com

bel3bel

A few years ago, people at the MIT and Staford Universities had a good idea: why not create a network so that we can use the internet to help former university members in obtaining good positions with companies or organizations.
I like the MIT and its approach towards sharing knowledge online. Most of their courses and content can be found on their website and you can join their online lectures for free! Doostang shares the same ideals because there is no [...]

Ray’s Web 2.0 Business Minitests: Ere.net, the Recruiter Community

bel3bel

A lot of Web 2.0 portals are about recruitment. This site is totally focused on recruiters and partners for recruiters. So if you don’t have a background or any interest in recruitment, this is not the portal you will be interested in.
But then again most of us, me included, are always on the lookout for a new or a better job, so it could be interesting to become a member and network with recruiters and headhunters.
Ere.net gives you all the [...]

About a year ago Yahoo! created Yahoo! 360 which lets you write your profile and blog, upload photos and network with others.
It is simple to join, once your have a Yahoo account and email address. This all takes about 10 minutes to complete and then you can search for other Yahoo! 360 users and ask them to join your network. Yahoo! has a simple user interface. The Yahoo! style takes some getting used to it. There are a number of [...]

Ray’s Web 2.0 Business Minitests: Guru.com

Guru.com
I have liked this site for years, it has a very clear purpose and objective: state your business and what you would like to charge for doing that. People who are looking for specialists can thus choose if they want your services or the services from your competitor. Naturally it helps if you have some positive feedbacks and a low fee per hour.
One example; about a year ago I made my profile on Guru.com, stating my business as a business [...]

A Web 3.0 Story, November 12th 2011

bel3bel

1.08 PM, November 12th 2011,
I was having a lazy day. I just finished a cup of coffee and decided to go online to find some new friends. I clicked the remote control and the full HD TV panel disclosed my online community to me instantly. It showed the location and coordinates of my friends in Real-life and in Secondlife. I had to choose: meet with my friends instantly or make a closer selection. I decided for the latter because I [...]

Ray’s web 2.0 business minitests: Tribe.net

bel3bel

A few months ago someone invited me to Tribe.net. I loved it instantly. It is so simple, has such a good user interface that anyone can make a nice profile adding photos, jpegs and very detailed Blogging information.
It targets both SIG (Same Interest Groups) users as online networkers. Tribes are in effect same interest groups, which you can create yourself or which you can search and join.
It also has a section where you can make and manage emails to others [...]

Ray’s web 2.0 business minitests: Ecademy.com

bel3bel

Every now and then I am getting questions or request concerning Ecademy.
So I tried it over and over again, partially to see if anything has changed or improved over the months. Between the lines you might already read what I think about it, and yes you are right, I think it has a lot of room for improvements…
So what is it? Its’ a networking portal just like LinkedIn and OpenBC where people can add their profiles and find other people [...]

Ray’s web 2.0 business minitests: Yahoo! Groups

bel3bel

Theses minitests are purely about real business potential, not about the technology behind it.

Undoubtedly, Yahoo! Groups is the leader among the SIGS (Same Interest groups). It doesn’t matter what you are interested in, the chances are that there are numerous Yahoo! groups which represent your hobbies or interests. There are literally millions of Yahoo! groups, some of which only have a few members and others have hundreds of thousands of members.
It is simple to join, once your have a Yahoo! [...]

Ray’s web 2.0 business minitests: OpenBC (Xing)

bel3bel

Theses minitests are purely about real business potential, not about the technology behind it.

You all probably have heard about OpenBC. It is the main competitor to LinkedIn and now has about 2 million users and soon will be renamed Xing due to Chinese involvements (investment?).
Its’ portal lets you write your profile in a user-friendly way and helps you to find other profiles quite swiftly and accurately. The sad thing is that you have to upgrade to a paid account in [...]

Ray’s Web 2.0 Business Minitests: Secondlife.com

bel3bel

Theses minitests are purely about real business potential, not about the technology behind it.

Ok, ok, you are right, Secondlife.com is web 3.0, not web 2.0, and yes it’s the next big thing.
Interaction with other people, that’s what it is all about. You choose your own avatar which you can tweak to look just like yourself or if you want to look differently, just make yourself look like a sex-bomb, cat, an angel with wings whatever.
The thing is, you learn to [...]
