Afeeda Unveils Feed Aggregation Service

Michael Garrett

A new feed aggregator service known as Afeeda is out to simplify feed reading by allowing users to create a single feed that combines multiple feeds from different sources. You start out by choosing between making a personal, group or event feed. Personal feeds gather your own created content such as personal blogs and Flickr accounts. Group feeds are used to aggregate content from anywhere, while event feeds are centered around – you guessed it - events. Once you create a [...]

Aggregation Of Your Online Presence Is Enhanced With Ziki

Svetlana Gladkova

We have just been informed of a major update one of Profy favorite non-Silicon Valley startups, Ziki, the website that serves two important goals: aggregating all your web content in one place and enhancing your (or your company's) visibility via search engines. We talked about Ziki when they initially launched the English-language version (originally the service was only launched in French) and offered to sponsor your name on major search engines for free. Honestly, I think there are way too [...]

Web-Chops Captures Pieces of Your Web

Phil Butler

Back on the testing trail I ran across Web-Chops, a cool capture tool that lets users “chop” any element from individual pages and perform mashups on their Web-Chop pages. This service is in public alpha right now and I must say that it is not only fun but has some interesting potential. I chopped out some beautiful ladies from one of the top 50 lists in no time and supplied the result in a screen below titled “Web-Lamb-Chops.”

Odeo Finds A Buyer: SonicMountain

Paul Glazowski

In February of this year, Evan Williams, the mind behind Odeo, a podcast-centric startup, put his business up on the auction block. Here we are several months later, and he’s got a buyer: New York-based SonicMountain. The new owner of the audio aggregator allegedly forked over just north of $1 million in cash for the whole nine yards.
Upon hearing this news, many of you familiar with Ev Williams and his ideas might be wondering whether Twitter, the abomination public blog [...]

Newsvine Releases Itself In 2.0 Form

Paul Glazowski

We’re in an era of immense media saturation, so much so that millions of Netizens understandably opt to filter the countless feeds available down to select lists of top choices, in order to avoid a barrage of information where one would undoubtedly exist if selectivity could not be had.
We may, however, be seeing the downside of excessive filtration, at least in terms of the number of venues offering personalization. The number of these aggregation and filtration utilities is high, and [...]

Spotback - Rate Everything

Phil Butler

Spotback is another startup that will be profiled at the upcoming Web 2.0 Expo in San Francisco April 15 - 18. Spotback asked us to review their innovative service, so here are the high and low points of my visit there.
This service is designed to help users to personalize their content via recommendations based on relevant content aggregation. Embedding of the Spotback widget onto a website allows members or visitors to rate your content. Once content is rated Spotback automatically suggests [...]

iStalkr Go Go 2.0 Gadget

Phil Butler

I got clued to a pretty cool gadget called iStalkr last night, so this morning I thought our readers should have the look at this new startup. The site is a feed aggregator in Beta testing that is supposed to stalk others obviously. I don't want to be too hard on the "spanking" new tool but it is pretty stark at the moment even by the developer's standards.
iStalkr is intended to be a livestream RSS and ATOM feed tracking device that creates a [...]

Snarfer Feed Aggregator

Alien News Vacuum Revealed! Snarfer - Changing to Suit Humans.
We review a great number of communities, startups, gadgets and other technology related to Web 2.0, but I have never really thought of reviewing something that I use to find some of this stuff. Snarfer is a friendly RSS manager that sits down there in my system tray just waiting to gobble (well actually he snorts) up news from around the world.
Snarfer is a feed aggregator that is really fast, diversified and simple [...]

Yahoo!, MSN, Dell Start Networking With ‘The People’

Paul Glazowski

We all know what ?too much? means. For instance, there is too much information for one individual to sift through on sites like Digg, Reddit, and Slashdot. One can even say there are too many sites that offer very similar or identical services. Well, maybe not Slashdot, which really is separate in its mission, but you get the picture. Really, it?s true. Visit Netscape and you can immediately tell it?s a rip-off of another, more popular service. (Which is legally [...]
