Microsoft just announced that they will try to acquire Fast Search & Transfer, which is a Norwegian enterprise search solution. The deal is reportedly in excess of $1 billion and is dependent on FS&T shareholder approval. The big three in search, Google, Yahoo and Microsoft have been locked in this search battle for some time with Google taking the lion's share of the users. |

LiveJournal has been around since 1999 as a “standby” of blogging and social networking. Yesterday Six Apart (which owns LJ) agreed to sell the company to SUP a Russian online media company. The complete terms of the deal are not available but SUP will evidently create an American management company to manage the social network's operations. The latest news in the never ending fencing match between Google and Yahoo! the latest news is that Yahoo! will acquire the remaining 80 percent of RightMedia for $680 million. Yahoo! has taken it on the chin from Google in the online advertising realm lately but Yahoo! seems determined not to be counted out. |
