ProfileMine: AJAX Editor For MySpace Pages

Paul Glazowski

MySpace surely is not very aesthetically pleasing. It?s downright abysmal, to be honest. But it?s home to tends of millions of social networkers and for some reason or another, they?re okay with how things are. I can?t quite grasp the indifference among the loyalists about the site?s theme, but perhaps some things simply aren?t meant to be understood. They just are the way they are.
One thing I assume must be the case, though, is that some of the folks [...]

The Pirate Bay To Launch Streaming Video Site ‘The Video Bay’

Paul Glazowski

Say what one will about The Pirate Bay. There?s something to be said about the operation?s audacity in the face of massive opposition by regulatory (industry-backed, to boot) bodies like the MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America) and the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America).
Despite repeated demands to filter out the illegal from its servers, The Pirate Bay has almost never ceased to provide a venue in which Netizens from around the world can share content (both copyrighted [...]

GoChongo: More Contests, More Money

Phil Butler

Gochongo! The name has a ring to it doesn't it? The startup GoChongo just entered private beta testing April 1st and is scheduled for public testing by today. The site is a community where a contest format is used in order to put artists and producers together. The twist here is that any person or business can be the producer by simply posting a project.
The way this works is a user submits or produces a concept which is in turn [...]

Votigo - Contests For Contests Niche

Phil Butler

Votigo is a new contest site that lets people be the judge of, well the judge of anything really. Votigo simply lets anyone from business to Aunt Bernice start their own video or photo contest. Users can create a contest from anything they are either involved or interested in and there are some pricey prizes to win too.
I tagged the site as a simple diversion, which it is, but the partners of the site are quite impressive and include: Prom [...]

Bungee Connect Web 2.0 Development

Phil Butler

One of the most innovative and interesting startups from the Web 2.0 Expo is a comprehensive development environment called Bungee Connect from Bungee Labs. This on-demand web development tool allows for the building and deployment of a large number of APIs onto the Internet. The scope of this service is vast, but perhaps the most attractive aspect of the utility is that Web developers actually only pay for the service once their application is making money.
Essentially, Bungee Connect enables [...]

eSnips -Web 2.0 Expo’s Little Star

Phil Butler

The upcoming Web 2.0 Expo, April 15 -18 2007 promises some fascinating news for all us 2.0 junkies. One of the startups there caught my eye this morning, so I thought I should tell you about eSnips.
eSnips is an online content sharing community where users have great flexibility of choice over the types and quantity of data they want to aggregate. The free 5 GB of space of storage space is generous and users also control who they share [...]

Famousr - It’s Not a Site; It’s a Feature

Cyndy Aleo-Carreira

I'm starting to get the feeling that many of these new "sites" are just ideas to add to existing community sites like MySpace, Friendster, and the like. A perfect example of this new trend of building a feature you hope will be purchased is the new site Famousr, a bare-bones site that is essentially three little games. The first shows two celebrity photos and asks you to choose which is more famous. You get points for each correct answer, as [...]
