US FEC Places Blogs In the ‘Media’ Camp, Allowing For Increased Legal Protections

Paul Glazowski

The Federal Election Commission, or FEC, of the United States, in decisions concerning campaign finance laws and whether to classify blogs that charge for politically-relative advertisements whilst claiming allegiance to particular candidates for elected office, yesterday found the blogs are in fact publications with media credentials, and as such may exercise rights available within the bounds of US Electoral Law.
While these decisions, in their respective contexts, don’t appear very profound, they undoubtedly couple as a major boon to blogs, particularly [...]

Publishers who use Blogger had been experiencing trouble performing various editing and posting operations last Monday and Tuesday. Google was quick to notice and repair this issue, as it was no longer a concern by Wednesday.
Wednesday, however, was the [...]

The biggest concern and cause for the "union talk" is probably best described by David Krug who writes that "one [...]

There are days I wish I had the power Dave Winer does when it comes to reaction to something I write. Of course, I'd use my powers for good, not evil. In his "update" on the brouhaha [...]

Ramblings of a Mad Man

Guest Blogger

According to Wikipedia, 'Web 2.0' is a phrase coined by O'Reilly Media in 2003 and popularized by the first Web 2.0 conference in 2004.
Until November of 2006, I had never heard of Web 2.0 and to be blunt I was not even remotely interested in writing a, "GASP", blog.  In the spring of 2007 that changed as I created, my first blog/RSS feed titled, "The Colour Blind Photographer". I would have done so sooner but personally, up to that particular [...]
