Brightkite Introduces International Text Messages Right After Twitter Cancels Them
by
on August 15, 2008

Is not it funny to see some coincidences in development of various online services? Only yesterday we spoke about Twitter cancelling SMS notifications to all the countries but the US, Canana, and India. And today when browsing news from the blogs of various startups I’m subscribed to, I was surprised to bump into an announcement on the Brightkite blog about the newly introduced international text messaging support. |
Advantage App Store: Two Paths to iPhone User Adoption
by
on July 13, 2008

One thing I quickly noticed when browsing the App Store, both in iTunes and on the iPhone, was that there seemed to be some bizarre method of listing the apps. I like finding things in neat categories and alphabetical order within the categories, but there seemed some anomalies in the sorting that placed apps out of order. |
Mixin Misses The Mark For My Social Calendar Needs
by
on July 12, 2008

I've been trying out Mixin for a few days now in hopes that it would be a bit easier and more social to use than other calendar options. It's promises of social event planning and schedule sharing had me intrigued. My reaction to actual use of the site is a mixed bag. |
Brightkite Offers API for Beta Testing
by
on July 11, 2008

Brightkite has just announced that they are ready to start working with developers willing to beta test their now available API. Judging by ReadWriteWeb's coverage of Brightkite, they planned to have the API available in May but apparently it took them longer. One of the people on my must-read Twitter follow list posted a link to a site called GlobMe earlier today in response to the deluge of tweeted complaints that followed a day spent looking at the Fail Whale as well as the lack of a reply tab in recent days. Heck, even the Twitter powers-that-be were recommending users try to interface with Twitter through Summize for a while - hardly trust inspiring behavior from a company. |
Web 2.0 Culture: What Twitters in Silicon Valley Stays in Silicon Valley
by
on April 28, 2008

I'm back in New York now after my week in San Francisco last week and am still adjusting to the cultural shift. Not only am I back in the suburbs where I have to drive everywhere, but how I use Web 2.0 apps is in stark contrast to how I used them last week, and it isn't just the difference between being at a conference and being back home and my regular work schedule. |
Brightkite: I May Not Have to Miss Fireball After All
by
on April 27, 2008

Returning back home after Web 2.0 Expo, I felt bereft. No longer could I turn quickly to my trusty RAZR, send a Twitter message to @fireball, and find out where people were. It's a silly thing to want, but if you are making plans to go out, it's helpful to have, especially if you are trying to meet up somewhere. |
Will Brightkite Innovate Web Notifications?
by
on July 14, 2007
|
We all know what notification systems are, right? Most web users come across and use notification systems constantly, whether they are entering their email address into a short form to be updated on the latest happenings at a website or trying to be notified when a new web service opens for beta testing or public use. There is one small problem here, that can be a setback for many people. The only way of receiving those handy notifications is to [...] |
