Today Microsoft is announcing another huge buyout of its stock - worth $40 billion dollars. The company has already completed the previous $40 billion buyout (it was originally for $30 billion with extra $10 billion added later) of shares and now we see the next round in an attempt to improve the corporation’s financial situation. |

The speculations about what HP, Intel and Yahoo are supposed to announce this morning started after a post on Techcrunch yesterday inviting the readers to guess what the announcement will be. It was obvious that it will be some research initiative for processing of large volumes of information but of course we could only guess. |

Facebook fatigue. Have you heard the phrase? Are you suffering from it? Where once I logged into Facebook first thing every morning to check status updates and new links from tech-minded friends, I can't tell you the last time I logged in. And I no longer seem to get friend requests, although I regularly find adds on FriendFeed and LinkedIn. |

I'm starting to think I may just want to skip right over the rest of 2008 and start fresh in 2009 when companies come to their senses. First HP decides to acquire support service dinosaur EDS, then Comcast snaps up Plaxo (all the better to throttle your bandwidth AND that of your social graph, my pretties!), and now CBS buys CNET. |

My favorite part of being at a conference isn't the sessions, although you can certainly learn a lot. It's meeting people an having conversations and discovering products you may not have heard of before. |
