Following weeks of public opposition to the BBC’s delivery of a Windows-only IPTV-based software solution, dubbed iPlayer, Downing Street has now officially come to the aid of the 16,000 netizens who signed an electronic petition designed to address the matter of inequality. The UK government is reiterating conditions originally stipulated by the BBC Trust (a sort of internal watchdog of the media house) as indeed mandatory, and that the BBC must provide solutions for the minorities of the PC market. Last night I synced my iPod (fifth gen, for those who care to know) to my iTunes library, disconnected, crashed on the nearest couch I could find, and found a new episode of MacBreak Weekly awaiting a listen on the device. The two hours that followed (it was 104 minutes in length precisely, but a few pauses pushed the session to somewhere around 120) were quite interesting indeed. |

On March 22nd, Yahoo! released version 4.0 of its widget software. Millions will download the upgrade. The main draw of 4.0 is its "Vista-like functionality,” whatever that means. Regardless of whether you like glitz or not, if you’re a fan of Yahoo! Widgets, the new version is good to have. Who wouldn’t want 40% more efficient use of your computer’s memory? |
