Find Fitness Fuel with Fitlink

Triston McIntyre

If I had to make an educated guess as to what keeps most people from leading a healthy and fit lifestyle, I would say that the lack of a training partner, a gym membership, and applicable real-life guidance are the biggest factors. I consider myself a relatively healthy individual, but I quickly admit to anyone that without a gym membership, training partner, and knowledge of proper workout routines that has been engrained over years of repetition, I would probably [...]

Tripit For The Holidays

Phil Butler

The holiday season is upon us, so I thought it appropriate to review a very effective and cool service called Tripit . Tripit it is not a brand new site, but it has added some great new features that can make trip planning drop dead easy.
Essentially, all anyone has to do is forward their travel confirmation emails to Tripit and the system automatically builds a master itinerary for the user. Everything the traveler needs is essentially provided for them [...]

Flickr To Debut New Geotag-centric Features In Coming Weeks

Paul Glazowski

What do you think of Flickr? It’s a nice bit of code, eh? It’s got good looks, good feature set, good functionality. It’s a pretty elegant package, wouldn’t you agree?
Well, expect it to get even better real soon, because it’s going to be getting some enhancements to its interface and map utility in the next few weeks. How do I know? They’ll be showing a preview of the new stuff today at O’Reilly’s Web 2.0 Summit in San Francisco.
Nearly [...]

Google Maps Gets Social Features

Michael Garrett

Users of the popular Google Maps service now have unique identities and can interact with other users with the addition of user profiles, a feature that was launched by Google yesterday.
Previously, the only interactivity users had on the service was through business reviews and the creation of personalized maps (although they were private and could not be shared with others).
Now, each user is provided with a profile, which is essentially a collection of each person's activity on the mapping service. [...]

Using Google Earth: View A Record Run Across The US

Paul Glazowski

Here’s a fun little nugget you might get a kick out of.
If you’re at all a fan of Google Earth, perhaps the coolest, publicly-accessible virtual representation of the Earth, and you like car races – particularly those of the long-distance-on-public-roads flavor – you’ll likely enjoy taking a look at the files of a transcontinental run the notorious Team Polizei (of Gumball fame), commandeered by Alex Roy, have made available.
Okay, this wasn’t exactly a race, per se. Unless I’m mistaken, no [...]

Microsoft Rolls Out Live Search Update

Paul Glazowski

Starting today, Microsoft is “phasing in” a new version of Live Search, its online engine, in order for the company to better compete with two much more popular such venues on the Web, Yahoo! and Google. In a week, the new Live Search will replace the current version for all of Microsoft’s US-based users and will be accessible by all the world come the end of October.
What I can’t help but find most interesting about this announcement is Microsoft’s statement [...]

Google To Introduce Embeddable Maps

Michael Garrett

I am sure that most of you are already aware of how easy it is to embed a YouTube video on your blog or website. All you have to do is copy the code displayed in the "embed" box, next to the video. After you paste that into your website, you are good to go.
Now, Google is planning to take that same embedding technology a step further and integrate it with their Google Maps service. Today, according to Dan Warne [...]

Google Announces Universal Search

Paul Glazowski

Most of us have used Google Search over the years, and it’s safe to say most have been content to do so. Until now. Now we want more – without putting more effort in. We don’t only want the standard set of links displayed ten at a time. We don’t want to have to physically enter the same search term on a subdivision of the main engine (news, images, video, etc.). We want things to be easier to use and [...]
