Yesterday’s Profy Downtime
03/14/2008, 5 months 3 weeks ago
|
As some of you may have noticed, yesterday Profy was down for more than 20 hours. Now that we have everything back up and running and our authors are back to the normal writing process, I would like to explain the situation. The reason for this problem is private switch network outage at our hosting provider which they explained in a blog post. Unfortunately Profy was in a reportedly small group of customers affected by this problem. As a result, [...] |

|
CNN bought into the citizen journalism movement 18 months ago with iReport, but most user-created submissions have never made it to the site. Later this week, however, CNN will launch iReport.com, a site that will contain solely user-created content, from videos to photos to stories. |

Fifth Generation Systems announced today that the have just completed a series B financing round in the amount of $5.3 million. 5G is best know for creating the social computing platform Zude , which I covered both here and on ReadWriteWeb back in September of 2007. Update On MyQuire - Simple Project Doctor

DEMOFall 07 introduced us to some fascinating and potentially industry changing startups and technology. One of my favorites was MyQuire , a very effective but simplified project management tool I reviewed in September. MyQuire has been chugging right along since then and has just released their latest upgrade derived from user feedback. I originally prescribed MyQuire for injecting pain relief for common projects and a dose of this remedy is even more soothing given their latest enhancements. |
Final Conclusion - Vista Bites
01/11/2008, 8 months ago
|
I finally decided to jump on the Vista “hate” bandwagon, so here goes: “I freaking hate Vista!” I know I am not alone in the world because I hear everyone complaining about the same things I do. We complain about incompatibility, graphic intensiveness, complicated, too different and on and on. How could so many of us have been fooled into believing that the first of any operating system released by Microsoft would reveal anything but trouble? One would think [...] |

12/14/2007, 8 months 4 weeks ago
|
The Webby Awards, a celebratory symposium of websites (and their creators) voted by way of a public poll to be the best in their respective categories, is an annual event going into its 12th installation next year. And we would be remiss not to mention to our readers that today, November 14th, 2007, is the deadline for submissions. |
LiveJournal - Russian Expression Tool?
12/04/2007, 9 months 1 week ago
|
LiveJournal has been around since 1999 as a “standby” of blogging and social networking. Yesterday Six Apart (which owns LJ) agreed to sell the company to SUP a Russian online media company. The complete terms of the deal are not available but SUP will evidently create an American management company to manage the social network's operations. Media company buyouts have been abundant in a sort of “feeding frenzy” for social media traffic and I think we can expect [...] |
