Send Us Your Tips but Not Like This… Please!

Svetlana Gladkova

I have already said here on Profy before that unlike many bloggers I do appreciate various requests to review a website that land in my inbox. The reason in my case is quite simple - I don’t really love hunting for information and news and when something is pushed to my eyes, I will appreciate someone taking the time to send this something my way and will at least take a look.
I have spoken once about the basic rules of [...]

The Embargo Breaks: The Regurgitation of a Press Release

Cyndy Aleo-Carreira

I missed an embargo lifting this morning.
It's happened on occasion when life has overtaken my planned schedule for testing and writing, or we've missed an email due to the enormous amount of spam that often comes into the address for pitches, but I would much rather miss being "one of the first" to review a new product or service than put out an article that shows little to no effort.
What is disappointing to me is the number of blogs I [...]

Cyndy Aleo-Carreira

The site, which launched in 2006, allows users to refer friends, acquaintances, and themselves for open positions, replacing a traditional headhunter or employment service with real-life social networks.
In this case, a Mr. B (JobTonic.com has hidden identities) referred Mr. A in Glasgow for a position as Telesales Advisor at a major UK financial company. After the candidate [...]

Phil Butler

High overhead and falling revenues are causing many traditional businesses to refocus their targeted sales platforms. Another example, the Borders Group is discontinuing its arrangement with Amazon.com for the sale of their books. Borders plans to close half of its Waldenbooks stores and sell off most of its 73 overseas stores.
Borders reportedly lost $73.6 last year compared to a profit of $119.1 million the year before. Borders had developed a strategy of allowing Amazon to sell their wares while maintaining [...]
