Livestation To Focus On Live News

Michael Garrett

Last September I wrote about Livestation, a then newly launched online television service in private beta which followed in the footsteps of Joost and Babelgum, but had one clear difference in that it offered 'live' radio/TV streams from popular broadcasters such as BBC. Where all of the competition offers 'on-demand' content that can be paused and played back at any time, Livestation takes the old-school route (similar to traditional television) in providing live video and audio content for its users.

Scrutinizing The Private Beta

Paul Glazowski

The last few years have been replete with announcements of the birth of new companies, the acquisition/sale of a great many entities, new products and services, and so on and so forth. The Internet’s a-growin’, for sure.
Heck, just today, a decent selection of media companies delivered as a private beta the much-hyped IPTV service, Hulu, for the press and a select few others to play with and spread word about. As expected, they’re talking. Talking quite glowingly about it, really.

Streamy - Invites to the Alt Digg

Phil Butler

Today Streamy Co-Founder Donald Mosites provided the catalyst for further discussion about the “Digg Killer” phenomenon we touched on last night. Cyndy Aleo-Carreira

For every great Web 2.0 company, service, or application, there are probably 5 or 10 that shouldn't exist. I'd be willing to bet that they don't even have a business plan.
Here are my latest "wasting bandwidth" award winners:
Can't get enough of Google Street View? Streetviewr is a cutesy little app that allows you to submit funny and bizarre pictures found on Google Street View. Considering the fact that Street View itself has no inherent value, piggybacking on top of it [...]

Plum - Crazy With Features

Phil Butler

Plum is a social networking site that lets users collect and share all manner of digital media. This tastefully done aggregation site jumps into this competitive niche with a great tool called "the Plummer", a toolbar that allows users to add everything from Web pages to local documents and media. Plum is free and currently in private beta, but the essence of Plum is a service that allows a user to collect their favorite aspects of other online services into one [...]
