MySpace surely is not very aesthetically pleasing. It?s downright abysmal, to be honest. But it?s home to tends of millions of social networkers and for some reason or another, they?re okay with how things are. I can?t quite grasp the indifference among the loyalists about the site?s theme, but perhaps some things simply aren?t meant to be understood. They just are the way they are. |

FON made news recently with its jab at Starbucks’ WiFi biz. The Spanish success (it boasts the largest number of hotspots in the world) offered a free wireless router to anyone within the immediate vicinity of one of thousands of Howard Schultz’s establishments that had broadband Internet access. Vonage, the leading VoIP-only telecommunications provider in the US, hasn’t looked well since the investor-led mutiny following the company’s disastrous IPO days. Headlines ran rampantly across the business sections of newspapers, news magazines, tech publications, and telecom industry papers about Vonage’s unwillingness to let shareholders go, even while a class action lawsuit loomed over its head claiming the dissemination of misleading information prior to the opening bell. |
